What We Do - Help | Locally
Committee Functions
Making Music Area Committees' main functions are to provide support and help to member groups and their responsibilities include:
 
  • Maintaining contact with and supporting member groups in the region
  • Organising, in association with the Regional Development Officer, meetings and other
    training events
  • Publishing a bi-monthly e-bulletin and a six-monthly Newsletter
  • Producing a 5-Year Development Plan
  • Representing members' interests to local and national government and other arts bodies
  • Organising an Annual Regional Meeting
The Eastern Region committee comprises, in addition to the officers, representatives in each county.  Those listed for each county will have more local knowledge but you may contact any member of the committee if you have any queries and we will of course, do our best to help.  County representatives are all there to help, not to intrude or criticise.  It is often a refreshing experience to get an outsider's view of your organisation - we can all become blinkered by being closely involved! Representatives from your county will be delighted to receive your publicity and be invited to attend your concerts.
 
We want to offer you as much support as you need. This may be by answering a simple query by phone or email, providing more specialised advice that may take us a while to research and answer or a making a visit to a committee meeting or concert for a specific purpose.
 
If you need to make contact you can choose between using your nearest representative, using someone from the same type of group as yours or contacting the Chairman or Secretary, but please do ask for help if you need to.  It is what we are here for.
 
Group Representatives/Contacts - Changes
Keeping Making Music contact records updated is always a challenge because people move around and change roles - however it is vitally important that we do hear from you so that we can make sure our communications are reaching the right people.   This is how.....

a. Change of Contact Person 
By law, and as an Association limited by guarantee, the Making Music contacts are the 'owners' of the Federation, and by signing the rep declaration they assume the responsibility for financial limitation to the value of £1 in the event that the organisation becomes insolvent. Therefore by law we cannot officially update our central membership database until we have a new representative's details with the associated confirmation.

Therefore it is ESSENTIAL that we have either an email declaration or a new rep form (see below). This form must be signed and returned for every full member group and with the current rep's details! (This is not required for Associate members although it is clearly still important that we are communicating with the right people in these groups.)

b. Change of contact person’s details - for example a new email address
This can simply be notified by any of the following methods:
  1. Email datachanges@makingmusic.org.uk
  2. Update your details in the Members' Area of the website
  3. Inform the Eastern Region Secretary who will pass the information through
    to the Making Music office
  4. Phone 020 7422 8280
c. Other changes
  • We also need to have up to date contact details for Treasurers and would like to have them for Chairs too. Notify these changes by any of the methods above
  • For us to link to your new website address contact the Eastern webmaster
